Old Hopewell Baptist Church, located in the Round Hill area, was organized in 1843. About the year 1854, they erected a church building. This was known as Hopewell Baptist Church and used for both church and school purposes. It was a typical building of those days.
It was here they congregated once a month, in large numbers, to get the news and hear the preaching.
In June 1883, a new church was built. Rev. Tutt delivered the sermon.
The church and Baxter school were across the road from each other.
